About

My name is Monique Olivier Getzinger and I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana but now live in southeast Michigan with my husband and four children. Other than cooking, my interests include photography, jewelry making and genealogy and am a proud member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution. I love sharing my Creole heritage by preparing New Orleans dishes. I will always call New Orleans my city and my home. It is a place where family, faith and food are part of everyday life.

Hurricane Katrina in 2005 devastated the city of New Orleans. Not only did it cause physical damage to the city, it destroyed families by spreading them across the state and across the country. It broke family traditions and gatherings. I do not want the Creole people to disappear or be forgotten. They are a beautiful people with a special culture and are an intricate part of the fabric of New Orleans.  In an effort to do this, I have started to document recipes and share them with the world.

Welcome to my Creole kitchen! I hope you enjoy a taste of New Orleans!

Monique
